I forgot to mention this about try to scan: When I'm in PhotoStudio and I click the scan button, I get a window that ask which of two programs I wish to use. Of the two, I select ScanGear because (1) that is what I've installed and (2) that the program the instructions said to use if computer is a Mac.
When I select ScanGear, it tells me the computer cannot connect to the scanner and that I should check the connection. Of course, I've tried restarting, opening, closing, unplugging, and plugging, in various orders. At one point, I did here the scanner start to move (excited!), but then, nothing.
