An Apple Airport Base Station will work also. You can even use one of the early silver ones. You'd use the phone jack to connect to the phone line and the ethernet jack to go to an ethernet switch and then from the switch go to both computers (they both have ethernet right?). I've used both the snow model and the older silver with my dial up connection and it works great. I don't know, however, how well it works with classic. I'm certain it'll work fine with the 9 computer, but I'm not so sure about 8.0. You should probably investigate that. Is the printer networkable? If it is, you can just plug it into the hub as well. If not, you'll have to have it plugged into a computer and share it that way. One other thing. I saw the posts about the other router. Bear in mind that not all routers support appletalk. I don't know about the one mentioned, but without appletalk I believe you'll have trouble talking and printing to the other computers, although sharing the internet would work fine. I've also used IPNetRouter. It worked ok, for a while, but it was awkward to set up and was a little tempermental at times. I much prefer the Airport Base Station.

For sharring dialup over mutliple accounts there is a program called
IPNetRouter.. I believe you can get a copy of it on Version Tracker..
I downloaded it to try and share a connection between two G3/300's but
could only get the remote computer to see the internet connection.. They are
hooked up via ethernet and a Netgear powered hub.. But you might have better
luck with it..
As far as printers are concerned.. Sorry, can't help you. My Hp3320 is
hooked up via USB on my hub.. OS 9.2.1 and 9.1 on both machines...

On one of these lists someone mentioned a dialup router. Anyone have
info and/or experience?

#3 any idea why the printer prints ok on 8100 but gives not enough
memory on 8500? (if plugged direct?)
steps: removed preferences for chooser and printer, rebooted
reinstalled 7.0.1 driver
