How about a discussion about "what if" perl 5.6.1 might not compile
correctly on the upcoming release of MACOSX 10.1?
Frankly, I am all ears... I have been looking for speculation on the
upcoming problems people might run into. I was kind of hoping 5.6.1
would be pre-installed.
Also, what are the pro's and cons of 5.60 vs. 5.6.1 I heard 5.6.1 fixed
a few bugs so I installed it... was I wrong...to go against apple's
judgement.
Anyway, there is a discussion going on in the Fink list about new flags
for ld(...and building shared libraries). It would be my guess that you
have to add them or wait for all the changes be incorporated into the
build process in some future version of perl.
Hopefully we will just be able to add the additional flags in config.pm
and go merrily on our way.
Next week when the thing is released(an educated guess..no inside
info). anyone with pre-experience will be there to guide the rest of us.
Another person might argue that discussing how to crash a windows
machine with a perl script might be a National Security Violation in the
current climate.
The Army had actively considered shutting down the internet until the
nimda virus has been eradicted. They are running a bunch of Windows
boxes. so we could take our militia of MACOSX and Linux boxes and stomp
out all their computers in a jiffy. c'mon...this kind of thinking is
exactly what will "let" them shut down the inet next time there is a
whim.

the only reason I read these lists is to stay a couple of steps ahead.
