Hi Michael, You can set either DOM or Group navigation under the Web specifications in VoiceOver Utility. Use VO-F8 to bring up the VoiceOver Utility menu, press "w" to go to "Web" in the sidebar, then tab to the web setup options and select the radio button for either DOM or group navigation for "When navigating web content use:". Command-W to close the window.
As a further comment, a number of people have remarked that on web pages you're familiar with, group navigation works faster. I use group navigation for searching the archives, for example.
