Secularism is fine by me (I’m Agnostic personally, and Turkey is a near-entire Muslim state, but recognises secularism officially) but the nationalist sentiments against Islam in France do seem to be at an all-time high, probably owing to the Paris attacks. Of course I realise there are bigots everywhere, but it’s still alarming to see such an upstanding socialist country garner so much hate, almost as government policy. And I do disagree that, for example, miqabs should be forbidden outside clearly secular venues, even if I personally find the ideas that they represent objectionable; it is after all the belief that some Muslim women hold. This would be a very interesting discussion, but not on this list, I fancy, and especially not on this topic, so I probably shouldn’t have brought it up. :) But feel free to follow up if you like. -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
