Okay, I see how you did that, but I didn't do it that way; all I had to do was 
go to the Twitter page via Safari and a little dialog came up asking me if I 
wanted to allow Apple's apps to access my Twitter account.  I said sure, what 
the heck, and Twitter is now showing privates and mentions of me in 
Notification Center, which is the most promising use I see for it so far.  I"m 
actually rather happy about this.
