Well, I would say that any need to communicate with Google users from outside Google will infuriate the random user. And not only random user. Right now, Google is imposing multiple hour delays (by rejecting with 4xx) on any single mail I send from my address to Gmail (in one case, it was over 30 hours). Not forwarded messages, sent from my account straight to Gmail.
