Well, I would say that any need to communicate with Google users from outside
Google will infuriate the random user. And not only random user. Right now,
Google is imposing multiple hour delays (by rejecting with 4xx) on any
single mail I send from my address to Gmail (in one case, it was over 30
hours). Not forwarded messages, sent from my account straight to Gmail. And
I can do nothing about it... :(

Hehehe.. Isn't it in the business interest of the any company who can, let alone the 'too big to block' to infuriate anyone using anything else? Today it is email..

It used to be OS vendors.. frustrate them, until the give up and move to the dark side..

Not sure what ever happened to the 'standards' efforts.. but it's too easy to hide behind the 'we are going this for your own good' and break standards or set new standards that will create pain for everyone else.
