for me, here's where maptitude is better than mapinfo:

1) dot density maps with multiple colors. like owner occupied households in
blue and renters in red, or black persons in black dots and white persons in
blue dots, etc.

2) dot density maps with symbols. i use two different dot sized with 5
different colors to map 10 variables (5 pairs)

3) maptitude comes with seamless layers to do the mapping with. i have
numerous data sets for mapinfo, but they're all split up on county lines.

4) maptitude scales the breaks based (loosely) on the data on the map.

5) with maptitude i would like to be able to save the themes, but applying
them is easy enough.
