I agree - thematic mapping is a breeze in MI. A lighter breeze in Maptitude.
Dead air in AV. Having a way to automate the production of lots of thematic
maps, being able to save a thematic template, would be a big plus for
Maptitude.
its good marketing too. I'll bet a lot of buyers are low end GIS folks just
getting started, initially just wanting to make a bunch of maps. They'll
spend $400 but not $1200. So seems Caliper should be the King of Choropleth
because that would draw in first-time users even more. Right now that is a
draw for buyers, making it really convenient would serve their needs even
more. But they need to add some flexibility to editing the legend too.

Thematic mapping in MapInfo? I love it. what's not to like? You can save
the themes, and apply them to new maps, an ESSENTIAL still lacking in
Maptitude. It has a nice and easy natural breaks. Half pies, which I love
and wish for in every other software.
It's an honest question: really, what don't you like about thematic
mapping in MapInfo?
