We will create a Data CD of 2000 census tracts as soon as all of the
PL94-171 data are all out; the deadline for their release is April 1, and
about half the states have been released. The Data CD will be listed on our
web site when it is ready.
P.S.: Starting with Version 4.2, Maptitude supports importing data from
TIGER/Line 2000; before that version the file format was not set.

Maptitude 4.5 will be out this Spring. We have not finalized the list of
data that will be part of that package. In the meantime, we will be
creating Data CDs based on the PL94-171 and TIGER/Line 2000 Redistricting data.
For example, available as the PL94-171 data are released are Redistricting
Data CDs, $495 per state. The list as of 3/16 was: Alabama, Arkansas,
Illinois (2 discs), Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada,
New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania (2 discs), South Carolina, South Dakota,
Texas (3 discs), Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Each CD contains seamless statewide databases for all the layers used in
redistricting (e.g., blocks, VTDs, counties, tracts, etc.) plus a number of
additional reference layers (e.g., streets, water features, power lines,
etc.). Each area layer contains ALL of the P.L. 94-171 fields plus
additional computed fields as recommended by the Department of Justice and
other redistricting experts.
