Hi all!

I just picked a more or less random post here ... but to say it first:
the "Template Team" is a *great* idea!

To be honest, one of the things really missing in OOo and in LibO is a
collection of templates that:
      * just works (e.g. is available in the program)
      * complete and adapted to different regions
      * modern and appealing

If somebody could start to investigate available, create missing, rate
existing ... templates - that would be a real huge improvement. The good
thing is, that we can even ask our users who are already there to test
them until they are that perfect to e.g. ship it with LibO.

Since some people asked for some kind of introduction: currently
templates are more or less spread across different sources. There are
only very few shipped, and even those are rather old and dissatisfying.
For example, I even miss a simple template for a letter - so I end up
using old ones over and over again.

Currently there are:
      * LibO / OpenOffice.org Wizards that create templates (but they
        are rather old and miss e.g. that people may have a cell phone
        number, but no fax machine...)

      * OpenOffice.org Template Website:
        http://templates.services.openoffice.org

      * OpenOffice.org Extensions Website offering some template packs
        that bring dozens to hundreds of templates:
        http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/taxonomy/term/36

      * Several private websites offering own templates

Unfortunately, most of the solutions have a major drawback ... it costs
time, effort, and knowledge to get these templates running.

Such a question can be (partiall) answered :-) Within the Renaissance
team, there has been some very basic analysis on the templates usage.
Please have a look at:
http://uxopenofficeorg.blogspot.com/2009/02/what-document-templates-do-our-users.html

And also the "most popular" rating here (example: English):

Does this help? Still, I find this a great idea ... thus, thanks to KAMI
and you all!

Cheers,
Christoph
