Thnaks, Michael. Excellent summary of all the wrenching contradictions, and Hamas would have balked or decided on a different operation if it could have foreseen the outcome. The revolutionary left similarly miscalculated in the aftermath of WW I and the Russian Revolution, notably in Germany and Hungary, which also ultimately resulted in a genocide.
