Charlie is referring to the US working class, and he seems to accept the 
proposition that tariffs are in its interest. No mention of whether Trump's 
tariffs or protectionist counter-measures by other states are in the interest 
of the international working class.

Capitalism has much evolved since 1888, but I still think Engels' On the 
Question of Free Trade is the best jumping off point for discussion of this

I'd be interested in hearing from David W. and Charlie whether they think this 
classical Marxist analysis is outdated, and if so, in what way?
