Charlie is referring to the US working class, and he seems to accept the proposition that tariffs are in its interest. No mention of whether Trump's tariffs or protectionist counter-measures by other states are in the interest of the international working class. Capitalism has much evolved since 1888, but I still think Engels' On the Question of Free Trade is the best jumping off point for discussion of this subject: https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1888/free-trade/index.htm I'd be interested in hearing from David W. and Charlie whether they think this classical Marxist analysis is outdated, and if so, in what way? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
