Was "I have deleted my posts on "artifical dementia" from the Marxmail archives" I think there are two separate themes on this topic - one is categories or descriptors of opposing Marxists; the other is the rather larger theme raised by Tom. I would like to return to that broader theme later. But I think it is reasonable to separate them out.
Hence I would like to respond to David W and Charles under this - changed title. (Good in any case since a significant typo in the original title). It is hardly rocket science, but it is simply my approach to the categories. In the past I've stated clearly here that I consider myself as a Marxist-Leninist and not a Stalinist, and I agree ( somewhat - although not entirely and universally) that "communists who respect the work of Stalin rarely take it as anything but a slur." On this forum, it was started by somehow who I believe was a Trotskyist - Louis P. Les and Mark B will no doubt correct me - but that remained my perception of him. I joined partly because of that, "what were such people thinking in today's world?" Proyect welcomed me on, knowing my views. I also joined to get a wider newsfeed. Since then it is clear to me the site is virtually 90% pro-Trotsky. As such I have accommodated in terminology. 1. On this list at least, it is pretty easy for me to tell who is using the term "Stalinist" in a derogatory and reductionist manner. So - most of the time, I'll not react if I sense it is being sued as a 'category'. But it is also used in a reductionist and 'shut-up' manner. I'll then react and say that I consider myself a MList. At the same time, I think I have to agree it is not always used in a way. I have become able to accept that. MLists I have found are generally able to roll with that if they sense it is categorical rather than deliberately "baiting" and "malicious". BTW Attempts to use quotes with a sanitised cross out Tom, are both pointless and counter-productive. 2. I frankly, never knew until about 2 years ago - as pointed out to me by MList cmdes working on MIA - that 'Trotskyite' was considered a slur - but 'Trotskyist' was not. I am not entirely sure where that comes from - David you assert this, but do not say its origin - but perhaps you could say. Nonetheless since that is what you feel is simply a 'category' of choice, fine by me. Well, that is it. Not rocket science as I said.
