Mark Baugher writes that I should stop looking backwards and focus on the
future and how to build a movement that fights Trump. In other words, let's
never consider past mistakes, no matter how massive they may have been.
David Walters apparently agrees with him. Contrary to what David wrote,
it's not "silly" to ask about that because if we can't recognize our
mistakes we will simply end up covering them up and repeating them over and
over.

Second, it's always so ironic to hear the fierce denunciations of not only
the Democrats but also of those socialists who advocated voting for the
Democrats to keep Trump out.... coming from the same "revolutionaries" who
have nary a word of criticism of the "progressive" union bureaucrats and
the left intellectuals who buzz around them like moths around a light bulb.
After all, these "progressive" bureaucrats are just as determined as their
more conservative brethren to stifle any real, independent rank and file
movement and most of all to prevent any working class movement that might
develop into a movement for a working class party.

And finally: Ben Seattle is right. A few hundred revolutionaries, whether
they are genuine or not, will not build a movement. What they can do is
recognize a movement that may be developing, understand it, work within it,
encourage it and *learn* from it. That's how we can start to play a role.
But those who are unwilling to even consider past mistakes won't learn from
the present situation. They will come into it with the same arrogance and
the same religious-like assumptions. They will remain in the same old echo
chamber. They might find it more comfortable in there, but they will
continue to be just as irrelevant as always.
