I very much doubt it will run "like crap".  I have YDL 2.1 on an older machine (a 
clone) than that, and X runs quite acceptably.  Even at $150 for the whole works 
you're getting a deal, because a used beige G3 will sell for $200-$300.  If you're not 
happy, you should be able to turn around and recoup what you put into it quite easily 
(unless you live in Nunavut), and still have an extra monitor.
