Tim, you're such a great help! (I mean that. No ass kissing or sarcasm here!)
I want to experiment with Linux, yes. But I'd love it as an alternate to X when I feel like it. I'm a student, and I won't be running a client/server configuration whatsoever. I just want to learn Linux for shits and giggles :) Yes, the graphics layer is a lot lighter in YDL. And yes, OS X is a huge resource hog. It dumps a lot of crap you don't need. Which isn't to say I don't love OS X. I do. I really, really do! It's just that I think Apple should stop spending so much time making cute little bouncing icons and make a fast, less buggy OS. Mind you, Jaguar IS fast on my G3 iMac, and I've had very, very few problems with it (KNOCK ON WOOD!). But, it could be better. -pat On Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at 12:51 PM, Larson, Timothy E. wrote: >> So no one is suggesting I put YDL on my iMac and make three >> partitions? > > That's always an option.
