The 2GB drive in my 200 MHz model was more than sufficient for a basic Linux 
install.  Recent Linux distros tend to throw a LOT of stuff in that you don't 
really need.  NetBSD has a much smaller installation footprint (~150MB), which 
is one reason I strongly favor it for 68k work.  I haven't tried NetBSD on a 
PPC though.

If you can find an HDI30 SCSI cable and have an external CD-ROM, that would 
work too.  Local LUGs are great here...if you can find the oddball cable, 
there's probably someone with an external SCSI CD-ROM that might let you borrow 
it during a meeting to get your install done.  Our LUG hosts installfests, and 
everybody brings in their kit to help each other.

I've never tried a network install, and don't know which distros support that 
option.  If you have the floppy expansion bay for the 3400, you could boot off 
a 7.5 floppy with network support, and try that.
