A relatively new solution to this is the docdatatypes and Multiview (or
whichever datatypes text reader you prefer). http://go.to/docdatatypes
They are under active development and support a myriad of PC, Mac, Palm,
and Atari word processing formats. It is shareware with a small fee, but you
can demo the datatypes with a restriction of 1000 characters.

I find the quickest solution nowadays is the SimpleHTML datatype and
Multiview. http://home.t-online.de/home/sebauer/english.html
