I have not added any new programs which might have changed MUI or any or
preferences.
Last night for example, I selected the last 100 articles. MD retrieved 167
articles for the Amiga hardware news group. Since I have been reading from
here regularly it is not new. But I also always delete all messages after
reading them off line. Most of the time there are zero messages in this
group on starting up. Datacomm, I have about 5 messages in there, but there
are never more than 20 messages or 50 in a week.
The freezing problem:
Interesting last night when I was selected the 57 messages from RV news
group, after the third message downloaded, MD froze. As I reported earlier,
I then restarted another MD session and did the same thing in a different
news group - I think it was Amiga . applications and while session one was
frozen, session two worked just as one would expect. Encouraged, I went to
the binaries news group where one can obtain attachments of varying sizes
and I "read" 20 messages all with binaries attachments with sizes ranging
from 20K to 400K. MD worked like a champ - even while session one was
frozen!
I then closed everything down; rebooted; restarted MD off line and continued
to read stuff off line - just as one might expect.
I think these are the hardest problems to debug, because they are
inconsistent - or seemingly inconsistent. I am probably failing to report
some critical bit of information such as "is the off/on switch in the on
position?"
