Highly agreed... I enjoy recording some of my favorite bands for nostalgia
purposes, as well as to distribute rare/live material with other avid fans
of the bands... unfortunately, regardless of the individual group's
attitude toward live recording, many venues in the US have banned recording
devices. In this instance, getting a DAT small enough to be stealthily
carried into the venue is difficult, if not impossible, and is quite
expensive. In the meantime, you can buy a refurbed MD-MS702 from Sharp
for $150, plug in a good set of mics, put the package in the crotch of
your jeans, and walk right in and get a decent recording of the band.

So, when it comes to "stealth" recording for a non-professional fan, MD
is the *only* way to go...

Now, if only there was an easy way to get tracks from an MD to a PC or
CD-R without an analog step from my 702... =)
