|LP2 mode sounds pretty good. LP4 mode is not good enough for music.
|Fine for speech.

I've found that on the MDS-JE440, the LP4 mode is more than "good
enough" for music. In fact, I was bowled over at how good it sounds,
especially considering that I was fully prepared to be disappointed in
its quality. I would have been satisfied had it sufficed for recording
off FM radio. The first thing I did when I got the 440 was to make
digital dubs of some orchestral music. I then A-B'd the MD and CD, and
I was hard put to tell the difference. David Tamkin suggested that the
difference might be accounted for by the fact that perhaps the R900's
DAC is not up to par with the JE440's.

|LP tracks can be "moved" using a non-MDLP recorder, but not deleted or
|named

I'll have to do some more experimenting, but I definitely named an
MDLP track on my MDS-JE700.
