what u can possibly do, and i have done it also, is get a grinder or file
and remove the damaged thread (i presume u damaged the top of it) then try
and screw the nut on, or go to a tools store, and get a thread file to suit
the thread on the tie rod. it is a square  funny looking file that will
have 4 different sets of  sorta teethy looking  things on it, you line the
correct size thread teeth on the file with the good portion of thread on
the tie rod , then use it like a file and run it oround the threads, the
store where u will buy it from will tell u how to use it,

you can but a proper tie rod end remover, or use two hammers, and at the
same time together belt each side of where the tie rod goes thru, you can
even use just one hammer, dont forget some  rods will need a fair bit of
persuasion....
