Are you swapping carbs because of LRP fuel problems by chance?
My daughter's Mazda Capella is still suffering lean mixture problem in the
primary jet range. Hard to start when dead cold, easy otherwise, smooth
idle, beautiful at full throttle, but lousy as if you just crack it off
idle. Worse if cold. Your problem also?
