I've pulled 3.7 out of 240K 5 speed many times - not even listed in the 240K books but it is in a 240Z book - I give up on 240K diff ratios. C210 Skylines were much more reliable as both auto/5spd used 3.9 and these diffs are usually in good shape - may be C210's were used mainly as family cars?

I've been told that some 240K's may have used 4.1 ratio, but never seen one so have my doubts. C210 Skylines (78-80) also used 3.9 R180 diff. Other cars that used R180 were: R30 Skyline (82-85), 3.9 ratio but CV joint axles 280ZX auto (78-8?), 3.5, I think (manuals all used 3.7 R200) 240Z (70-73), 3.9 720 4WD utes, and even Subaru WRX Sti (and probably a bunch of others) >The listed diff for a 240K auto is 3.54 but I wouldn't put money on it after >30 years. > >TR > >-----Original Message----- >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Ben >Sent: Tuesday, 26 March 2002 7:50 PM >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: Re: R180 Diff > > >what ratio is a r180 out of an auto 240k, coz i know where one is and i >reakon it would be cheap > >----- Original Message ----- >From: "Terry Rudd" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Sent: Monday, March 25, 2002 5:20 AM >Subject: RE: R180 Diff > > >> You can indeed, although the practice was always frowned upon by some ppl >in >> my day and probably still is - you need some special tools to do the >> preloads properly, otherwise it will be noisy as all get up.
