So what sort of box can you slot into a old Z comfortably. I've just pulled
mine out and it is the Z box that came with the carbon steel?(I have no idea
what they are made out of) type synchro rings. From Nissan they are about
$250 each. I was considering reconditioning the box (synchro in 1st and 2nd
and bearings), but with parts adding up to close to $700, there has got to
be a better option.

Cheers
Paul

A Z box is still only a 71B box and they are getting old now.
For a full reco the sky is the limit. Coupling rings are $500 each from
Nissan new or about $100 $150 second hand. So there is $300 at least if
needed. Plus if you want Warner brass syncros they are about $350 fitted as
well. It all adds up.

Well!... seconds a bitch to get into, it wines(spell)
alot, and it jumps out of first! It was rebuilt about
8 months ago by Lindsay at Z spares (I think thats
their name!) I was told to through brass somethings in
there or somerthing! I need it to be very strong,
Well can we change ratio's? Or make it so its got a
better feel when shifting, e.g put gates in it SO I
know it in!
Cheers NAT
