Hey stewart, I've done a similar conversion, didn't have that probablem though. Did you change your sumps over. I did a L16 to an L20 so I've got a 1600 sump on the 2 Litre that it matches correctly on the crossmember. Thats the only way I can see it being to tall in the engine bay. The problem I found was matching the cross member holes up for the bolts. F%*king took ages (like two days) wedging srewdrivers to finally get them in, I think I stripped one though. The other problem I found was I couldn't get the speedo cable/trip metre to fit properly, nor my tacho either. Mind you I've got a skyline 5 spd to fit it to.
Good luck Stewart hope that helps a bit. -----Original Message----- From: Stuey Roberts [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, 16 September 2002 18:21 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: L20B into a Datto 1600 Hi there, my name is Stuart Roberts and i have just put a slightly modified L20B into my 1972 datto 1600. I bought the car with an L18 in it and have used the same mounts and cross-member that was in the car. The problem that has arrisen from this is that the front of the motor sits high, which means that the bonnet will not close? How can i rectify my situation? Do i have to replace the mounts in the car with L20 mounts, or change the cross-member, and which Datsun can i source the right mounts/cross-member from. If you can help me it would be greatly appreciated.. Thankyou Regards, Stuart Roberts _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
