You might try the earlier style air cleaner (L18etc..) which I think has a lower profile, this worked in my 1600 when it had an L20B. The Bonnet was very close to the front of the cam cover about 1/2 " clearance if I remember. Exhaust may also need a little work relative to what kind of setup you have also, as it may hit the block of the taller L20.
