Richard, thanks for your reply.  Yes i have used the L16 sump and pickup 
when i got the motor rebuilt.  The car came with an L18 & 5 speed in it, all 
i did was remove the L18, and bolt in the L20.  I will b using twin 40mm 
delorto's off the side, and what the bonnet is catching is the dome for the 
timing chain at the fron of the rocker cover.  At the moment i have about 
10mm clearance between the front of the sump and the cross member.  I also 
have some extractors from and L18 i think that wont fit between the gearbox 
and the gearbox tunnel in the firewall/floor.....
