Terry, he will be find with that size motor.

However, he will need to consult an engineer for a report on the conversion
as he is going up in engine capacity and changing to a different type of
engine.

What the engineer will do is take about $500 off him, inspect the car very
thoroughly and make sure that the engine is bolted in, etc. and make notes
on stuff that has been changed from standard during the conversion. He will
ask lots of questions about it, and eventually will be able to come up with
an approval or a list of things that need to be finished off to make the car
comply with the Australian Design Rules relevent for that year model car. He
will give you 2 or 3 copies of the report. One goes to the blue slip guy,
another to the RTA to get stamped or something.

Once the report is done, he then takes the report to a Blue-Slip rego
inspection where they check everything over to make sure the motor won't
fall out, nothing is bodgey, and check engine and chassis numbers with revs,
rta, etc. They then put the new numbers onto a blue slip form, take about
$48 from him and they *might* also want to do a pink slip for $26 or
whatever it is.

Once it's stamped by RTA your nephew must make a couple of photocopies of it
so that he can carry one around in the car and keep one at home. The one in
the car is very usefull if the cops pull him up and ask questions coz his
rego sticker will say "modified as per engineer report ######" and if your
neph can produce that report by the side of the road he will stand a good
chance of avoiding any unroadworthy fines that any unhappy police officers
care to try and throw at him. Also a copy of the report must be produced at
the racetrack if he wants to compete in any drag racing, etc..

Subject: Also Off Topic (EA Falcon)

This is way off topic too but I'm hopeful for some useful info here as I
figure that I'm likely to get a better quality answer than on cars.com.

My nephew has 3 Fords in his backyard (one is an ambo fully decked out for
dirty weekends etc) and they're all in various states of rejuvenation but
the EA wagon just needs a power plant and tranny to get on the road - the
question is if he drops his GAS Research fed 351 Cleveland and 5 speed into
the EA Wagon (that originally came with a 6 cylinder/3 speed auto crap box)
to get it up and running, what sort of grief is he likely to be in for from
the RTA in NSW? and he lives in Yass (as in the bush)

I'm thinking we may be able to use EB stuff but does anyone know if we can?
He already has a 9" disc rear end in the EA but obviously the front
suspension and brakes would need to be at least up to the level of the 5
litre. Anything else?

I guess that the $64 question is would it be likely to require an
engineering report or just a slip of whatever colour the rego one is?

Any info gratefully received.

TIA
regards
Terry

hi,a friend of mine just pulled out a cam from a 308 holden.

it was supposed to be standard, but the cam has the following numbers on
it:

JC 5OBH ( not sure if the O is a letter or number)

and the following number, was sorta stamped underneath it:

921-766

any ideas on who makes the cam?
