If you and your mates can do the work (apart from the wheel alignment) then you will save a hell of a lot of money.  For 250 bucks fitting them yourself, you could get some awesome shockies rather than the bogey ones they will fit.  Hey at home I have a set of Monroe sensatracs for the front and rear of a datto (standard front struts) that have only done 4000km of city driving.  Nothing wrong with them, I just upgraded to a set of koni’s.  Make an offer if you are interested?  Rear cross member bushes will be a bit exy cause they are big bushes but definitely not $147 worth.  Anyway if you can do a bit of DIY let the guys around here know and I’m sure we’ll be able to give you enough advice to do the job properly.  I know, cause I just replaced all the bushes on my 1600 by myself.

Cheers

mate there is only one place to go to in canberra, all the others are shite.

they are in fishy, howard revell the guy there is really good and knows about dattos.

DO NOT go to revell in braddon.

Another option is to go to the shell at the top of belconnen and talk to the mechani there with the red beard, NOT THE MANAGER, and ask for some weekend work off the books. they are goodm cheap and quite quick.

hope this helps

Hi All,

Took my car to Pedders (I know, bad me) yesterday for a 28 point check... I knew it needed a wheel alignment and I thought they could shed some light on why it wanders. Current suspension is very stiff, front more so than the back. Blah blah blah, they said it would never be 100% but if I was to replace all bushes with rubber it would certainly help and that my current wheels and tyres (TRX rims wearing 195/55/15 tyres) weren't exactly helping matters. Here's the list of failures and the quote to replace them...

Front shocks $250 ,Front bump stops $87, Rear shocks $148, Subframe mounts $147, Wheel Alignment $60.

So including labour of $480 the grand total comes to $1172!

Does anyone else think this is a bit rich? Anyway, options? Do I shop around for a better price (any ideas on who else to go to in the ACT, pref Belco but will travel if necessary) or do I get the front end done first and the back when I can afford it...
