Out of curiosity, what
import car was it? and what bush was it?
We had a 300ZX import in our
workshop once and needed a bush for
the front suspension, it was
sold as a complete control arm by Nissan,
I asked them if the
Australian model 300ZX sold the bush seperately and
it did, i bought them, under
a different part number altogether, and straight
in she went. Too many
ppl look at imports and say "too hard" straight away
in the parts side of the
world, all it takes is a bit of thought.

I
was searching for a particular bush for a import car a few weeks ago and could
not get it, was told by the local Auto1 shop that nothing could be done, etc..
Went to suspension experts, and was told that a custom bush would cost $xxx
hundred for the mould and $yy each bush, etc..
Eventually rang noltec, spoke to Greg and he told me the part number to
order thru my local Auto1 shop, how to install it so it wouldn't squeak,
etc...
Call Noltec in Sydney, they have most of the
bushes you are talking about, including the Sub frame ones. I used them in
my race car. THey actually make different grades of Nolathane, so ask for
the softer ones if you want them to be more like rubber.
After having a guided tour through their
factory, and learning how they actually make the stuff, I would never go
back to rubber again, or any other brand. Speak with either Greg or David
Nolan (Father & Son) they own the business and will look after you. THe
bushes are easy to fit....save $$$ and do it yourself.
Mark.

Subject: Suspension Options
Hi All,
Took my car to Pedders (I know, bad me) yesterday for a 28 point
check... I knew it needed a wheel alignment and I thought they could shed
some light on why it wanders. Current suspension is very stiff, front more
so than the back. Blah blah blah, they said it would never be 100% but if
I was to replace all bushes with rubber it would certainly help and that
my current wheels and tyres (TRX rims wearing 195/55/15 tyres) weren't
exactly helping matters. Here's the list of failures and the quote to
replace them...
Front shocks $250 ,Front bump stops $87, Rear shocks $148, Subframe mounts $147, Wheel Alignment $60.
So including labour of $480 the grand
total comes to $1172!
Does anyone else think this is
a bit rich? Anyway, options? Do I shop around for a better price (any
ideas on who else to go to in the ACT, pref Belco but will travel if
necessary) or do I get the front end done first and the back when I can
afford it...
