Wheel alignments are usually no more than $50 for just the front. $70-$80 for all 4 to be aligned if your car has the capability.

 

You can change most rubber bushes, bump stops and mounts yourself if you have more patience than money.

 

A set of shock absorber spring compressors is around $80 and will enable you to remove the springs safely so you can change the shocks over. Don't put Pedders gear in your car though, you can get better value for your money...

Hi All,

Took my car to Pedders (I know, bad me) yesterday for a 28 point check... I knew it needed a wheel alignment and I thought they could shed some light on why it wanders. Current suspension is very stiff, front more so than the back. Blah blah blah, they said it would never be 100% but if I was to replace all bushes with rubber it would certainly help and that my current wheels and tyres (TRX rims wearing 195/55/15 tyres) weren't exactly helping matters. Here's the list of failures and the quote to replace them... 

Front shocks $250 ,Front bump stops $87, Rear shocks $148, Subframe mounts $147, Wheel Alignment $60.

So including labour of $480 the grand total comes to $1172!

Does anyone else think this is a bit rich? Anyway, options? Do I shop around for a better price (any ideas on who else to go to in the ACT, pref Belco but will travel if necessary) or do I get the front end done first and the back when I can afford it...
