Have you owned one or is this just what you hear? I had a 6.2 which my
dad now has and it has close to 200K on it, no problems at all. I now
have a 6.5 turbo with 132K, it runs just great, no problems there either.

Those GM diesels are so junky, I can't believe anyone would buy them...
The 6.2 and 6.5 both only will last about 100K miles. The fuel pump
wears out fast, its not designed for todays low sulpher diesel fuel.
The cylinder bores wear fast, pistons fit poorly and the head gaskets
spring leaks so frequently its almost a joke anyone gets much use from
these engines. Thats probably why civilian hummers are all gas engined
now. The military has there own mechanics to do head gaskets so they
can use the diesels. I have heard the Ford powerstrokes are excellent
engines and also the Cummins diesels. -Dan

The military Humvee is.
The original civie versions after the gulf war were all GM
diesels, can't remember if they were 6.2L or 6.5L.
By the time Ahnold was hawking them, the majority had 350 gassers
in them. I don't know if you can still get the H1 with a diesel,
might be interesting if they put the GM/Isuzu Durawhatever in it.
