This is the real problem with electric cars that nobody seems to talk
about.  The grid in most areas does not have enough excess capacity to
handle a mass move to electric rechargeable cars.  So for this to happen
we need to build more coal plants (oops, nobody wants more of those) or
"nuke-u-lar" plants (ditto) or maybe set up a windmill behind the garage
and hope for a lot of wind at night.
