Your stuff is new, you will most likely have no issues with 64b; since
you are already on the cusp of needing it any new RAM you buy will
mean you will require converting to 64b anyway. There is
compatibility mode for broken software. 64b is the way of the future,
and no doubt enough for anyone. :)

If you take a CS class at the local U you may find that you can get a
legal free version for your personal use. Links may be in your banned
archive. Oddly my wife's U offers 1 license of 2008 server to each
student but not W7? But then that's what I wanted anyway. Not used
for web serving of course (who would willingly expose a Windows
computer to the internet?!) but I did read the license and think we
are in compliance for house use.

When I was shopping 7 I would not have paid the delta for "Ultimate"
or whatever it is, IIRC it's just disk encryption or something. There
used to be a cheap student upgrade (like $40 or something?), perhaps
your daughter could hook you up. You could probably figure out a
creative interpretation of the license, too, if she's not emancipated.
If you care to remain legal of course...
