My '51 VW had notches in front edge of the roll down windows, so if you just
rolled it down a little, the notches at the front edge were the  only
opening. It also had push out vents behind the front fender that you opened
from inside - too high to be floor vents, but too low to be knee vents. They
did scoop in a fair amount of air to 70mph however.
