They are indeed touted as snow tires, but in 225/55-16 on a '94 E420,
they sure are lousy.

The M+S rating just means "all season" in a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none kind of way. Snow tires will have a "Mountain Snowflake" marking on the sidewall.

Those jokos don't seem to have a lot of siping in the tread, which is where your wet and snow traction comes from, and something tells me they're pretty old; any tire over five years old won't grip worth a lick.

I'm on my first winter with dedicated snow tires (Blizzak WS70) and they have changed my world. The S420 would regularly disgrace itself in snow on good all-seasons; now I have to drive like a complete jackass to get the ABS or ASR to make themselves known.
