That T-5 Astro tranny (from a 2.5 Astro van with stick shift? Hen's teeth)

Not quite so rare! Car-part.com lists a dozen. For the ones with
prices listed (rather than $CALL) the low is Canadian $200. Not bad at
all.

How do the ratios on that tranny compare to those on an '84 190E
5-speed? I've been tempted by this ad for a while now:

The 190d has the widest range of the W201 gearboxes.
The 190e 2.3 has the tallest overdrive. The 190e 2.6 has the strongest W201 gearbox, stronger than the 2.3-16 supposedly.

Astro:
4.03 2.37 1.49 1.00 0.72

190e 2.3:
3.91 2.17 1.37 1.00 0.78

190e 2.6:
3.86 2.18 1.38 1.00 0.80

2.2 190d:
4.23 2.25 1.48 1.00 0.84

2.3-16:
4.08 2.52 1.77 1.26 1.00
