My first car was an '84 Ford Tempo, feel free to roll your eyes but as far as really cheap cars go it was pretty okay. Mine had a 4spd manual and 2.3l 4cyl which I understand was built in conjunction with Mazda as many small Ford's of the period were. It was actually a really good engine...
