(Reminds me of F-104s that had downward ejection seats because the upward ejection seats were not yet powerful enough to keep the pilot from being sliced in two on the sharp, high rear stabilizer. IIRC, they finally developed a powerful enough seat and retrofitted the F-104 fleet.)
