My youngest son just sort of beat his last speeding ticket (his third in as many years!)
He got two continuances, hoping the LEO who wrote the ticket wouldn't appear, but he did. He got it knocked down to 6 mph over the limit because he showed that he had recently had his speedo worked on, which he had. The officer used his cruiser's speedo to "clock" him, so he argued that the manufacturer's tolerances were a certain percentage of the stated value, and backed it up with data from Ford (it was a Crown Vic.) He said the cop was pissed as heck.
