Yes, but there is zero room for error. And if the chain breaks during operation, it can easily destroy an arm, or a leg, or your face, etc. Leggings, helmet, eye protection, gloves, hearing protection, all recommended. Unfortunately an area logger would usually suffer a chain saw accident once every year or two in the area I grew up. The resulting injuries were usually horrific, if the logger lived.
