Water ran through the passenger side drain with test drain tube inserted - without leaking? 'Thought that was the drain that WAS LEAKING without the test drain tube in it. If that be the case, haven't you found the leaking drain on the passenger side? What am I missing? OH! Did you mean you attached test tube only to TOP END (beginning) of the passenger drain tube, not inserted far down the tube and below/past the pillar?

Hi guys,

As Curt suggested I found a small rubber hose that I was able to snake into the sunroof drain and attached a small funnel. It was a perfect fit so no water would backup into the drain channel . I did the test using 1 gallon of water. The water ran through the drain WITHOUT ANY WATER entering the interior of the car. I did the test again now I timed it to compare to the driver's side flow where there is no water issue.

It took 3 minutes 24 seconds for the gallon to pass through the passenger's side drain as compared to 3 minutes 30 seconds for the driver's side (Yes I used a stop watch, a bit much I know!). The problem passenger side ran 6 seconds faster!! This just about rules out any issue with the drain itself......unless I am missing something.

Apparently there is some issue in the drain channel. Somehow the water is leaking from the channel into the headliner and down the "A" pillar etc. before it is able to drain properly.

A friend described the issue to a Mercedes technician who was sure it was from a clogged drain.

Anyone have parts diagram or instructions on removing the sunroof. Please keep the suggestions coming.

Bob

I was thinking something like a small clear hose from the hardware store mated
to a small funnel, that'd allow the angle with no issue.

I was also wondering how small the drain is, if its not too small maybe you
could sleeve it with a hose like that...

Great idea! I can see the drain from above but it's at an awkward angle. I
will try to figure out something and report back.

Can you see the drain from above? Could you take a funnel with a hose and run
it
down into the drain? If you poured a gallon of water down the drain and it
ended
up in the car you'd know the drain was the problem, no other troubleshooting
required.

As Jim said the seal doesn't seal the car, so yeah its normal to have water
down
the drains all the time.
