Not sure what kind of driver it takes, but what you do is adjust the idle and high speed, one screw for each adjustment. Just turn the right one until it runs well at idle and high. Be careful.

If it's running right, it should four stroke at full throttle out of the wood and clear up and two stroke under load. The problem is most saws have rev limiters built into the coil, and it's hard to tell the difference between too lean and bouncing off the rev limiter (heading for a seizure eventually) and just right and four stroking. Best way (without a tachometer) is to have somebody else bury the bar in wood while you adjust the H screw for maximum power.

The way Kaleb describes it running is a nice way to scorch a piston. Unfortunately a lot of saws leave the factory like that. Usually, if there's a limiter on the H screw, backing it out against the limiter will get you an acceptable tune.

For the L screw, adjust it so it idles OK and revs without hesitation when you hit the trigger.
