Wifey's car is a 2005 Mazda 6 Sport. Has been relatively trouble and
maintenance free since purchase, although at 137,000 it's beginning to get
balky.

Current issue is an oil leak at what appears to be the crank seal. Dealer says
it's the oil pan, but I've traced the leak and it sure looks like it's coming
from behind the crank pulley. Drips enough to hit a heat shield and stink
regularly.

Ignition misses with some frequency, but never enough to throw a code or light
the CEL. Have put several coil packs in the car but there are still a few
original ones.

Other issue is the torque strut, or "dog bone" on the rear of the engine. Hers
is all torn up and the soft bits of it are failing. I see that they are all
over the different FLAPS, so I pick one up to replace hers.

Hmmm. Looks very similar, but things like bolt hole centers are slightly
different. Interesting.

I take it back and we go through the various applications. All say it fits her
car.

So now I go to the dealer. No stock. No projected delivery date. Picture looks
identical to the FLAPS version. A parts manual line drawing, so I'm not too
concerned at this point. Dealer is getting one for me and when it comes in
we're going to play "match the part".

If I could afford to I would replace the car at this point, but it's not
budgeted for replacement until this summer. She is due for an increase at work
shortly, so that might move things up a little.

We will probably buy another Mazda 6, as she likes the car and the current one
has been good.
