The heater core in my 123 has had a small leak for years now that I have
ignored, but needs to be fixed eventually. Not sure why, but they do seem
to go bad. Maybe using water instead of coolant corroded it - I did that
once when I overheated it.

No worries I have a real mechanic lined up to switch things out. I don't
have that kind of time right now. Evap replacement is like a ten hour job
in the shop manual, so it would take me at least a month of weekends...
