Yeah, I used to work for Fedex Home Delivery(in the same terminal as the Ground guys). If I got something "in the open"(i.e. unpackaged), I took better care of it, as it would be easier to damage and more obvious if it was damaged. Most everything was in boxes though. Those things get tossed all over the place. I remember loading up at the terminal and seeing one of the handlers toss one and hearing that familiar sound of broken dishes or china or something. "Maybe we ought to just pass that one on over to the broken area now..."

And seeing them when they come in on the semi's isn't much better. If your package happens to be on the bottom of one of those 13ft tall trailers stacked to the top, your package better be able to withstand the weight of all the others on top of it...

I don't think I was as bad as some of the other drivers. Of course I did have to fish a package off of the TOP of my delivery van one time. I don't know how THAT could have happened... (:

They tend to beat them up less if they are unwrapped. There is some twisted psychology at play there, but i don't know what. The current thinking is to just put a label on it and send it. That is not just Kaleb's idea. If it is wrapped, they make sure they run over it first, then spear it with a forklift for good measure.
