Clear coat is a scourge.  There’s no fix short of a repaint.

The SL500 has a dime sized spot on the hardtop roof in the clear that is 
starting to spread. I’m ignoring it.  Worst case, I take the top to a small 
local shop all stripped down and have them paint it.
